Coldwater Creek closing down its stores, including 4 in Pittsburgh region

Women's clothing retailerColdwater Creek is closing all its stores as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

That includes four Coldwater Creek stores in the Pittsburgh region,in Mount Lebanon, Cranberry Township, Ross Township and Monroeville. Coldwater Creek also operates a store at the Grove City Premium Outlets.

The retailer filed for Chapter 11 protectionon Friday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del., and details the basics of its plans on its website, saying the filing was made to facilitate an orderly wind-down of its operations.

While the company's origins are in catalog sales, Coldwater Creek had grown to more than 400 stores in 47 states. The company has yet to indicate a time frame for the closing of the stores.
