As CBS 2s Janelle Burrell reported, volunteers worked Saturday to make sure homebound seniors werent forgotten on National Grandparents Day tomorrow.

Tiffany Challenger, 12, has grandparents of her own, but on National Grandparents Day, shell be adopting five others.

I like to see the smiles on their faces, she said.

She and her mother, Heava Challenger, are regular volunteers with City Meals on Wheels. On Saturday, there were making cards.

It says Happy Grandparents Day. There is no one like you, youre original, Tiffany said.

The mother-daughter pair from the Bronx delivered hot meals to the seniors, alongside several other children and parents who were taking time out of their Saturday to make the 90 deliveries.

A total of 18,000 of the meals are delivered citywide each day.

Some people who cant get out of their homes or cant buy food, volunteer Sylvie Bless said of those they are serving.

For many seniors, getting the cards and a visit from volunteers is the only interaction they have for an entire day.

With their coolers and cards, the group made the trek across the Upper East Side.

Teresa Thomasello, 91, was ecstatic to have the company.

Theyre beautiful, all of them. How nice, she said.

It gives life and a lot of joy to meal recipients, Rachel Sherrow of City Meals on Wheels said.

But the meal recipients arent the only ones walking away with a smile.

It feels pretty great. It feels pretty special, Tiffany said.

Last year, the programwhich is separate from the Meals on Wheels programhad 19,000 volunteers provide more than 67,000 hours of service.

Chris The Glove Taylor has deep roots in the L.A. hip-hop scene.

He was Ice-T s DJ on the electro-rap song "Reckless," which the two performed together in the '80s cult classic movie Breakin.

Taylor later became a collaborator with Dr. Dre on quite a few of the good doctors classic cuts,sometimes going uncredited.

One such uncredited track was the monster 1996 hit "California Love." The story goes that it was originally intended to be the first song put out by Dre's Aftermath label, which was then still in the planning stages.

Of course, in the end it appeared on Tupac's album for Death Row, All Eyez on Me.

We talked with Taylor about how it all went down. You were on hand when Dr. Dre and Tupac recorded California Love.

I was at Dr. Dres house in Calabasas one afternoon [in 1995] because he was always hosting barbecues at his spot. He had a studio in the back and he called me over to it so he could play a track for me, which turned out to be the beat for "California Love."

The sample and the drums were already in place but he told me that he was going to have come musicians come over and replay the horns that were in the original sample. The musicians came through and did their part and afterwards I laid down the keyboard parts heard throughout the track. After the track was complete, Dre told me that he was keeping this beat for himself.

As the party went on at the house, Tupac ended up coming through and he kind of snuck up behind me, because he was stealth like that. We said hello and shook hands and then he left to enjoy the party or so I thought. A short while went by and I went back in to the studio to see what was going on, and I saw Tupac in the booth recording a verse to the beat we had just made.

The entire process was about 20 minutes all-together and it was just amazing.

So Dr. Dre changed his mind quickly about his plans for the song?

The song was his for a period of about three hours, and once Tupac showed up to the party, it became theirs. I wish I had another opportunity to work with 'Pac but that night would be the only time that we were ever a part of project together.

He was just a great example of someone that was ready to work on the spot and because of that he could just show up to a party and record a classic hip-hop song that will be remembered for all time. After the session, Dre replayed the track about 50 times but 'Pac only stayed for a few playbacks and then he bounced and went off to the next thing thats how he was known to work.

Did Dre know that he had a classic on his hands when you guys finished?

When Dre makes a hit he knows it and he knew that song was a hit. With the addition of Tupac it became a classic, which is why we could listen to it repeatedly in the studio and not get tired of it. When you can get tired of it then you know that song isnt going to hold up.

And they must travel to Michigan State, another team with a now nationally feared defensive identity.

Then there are the dashed dreams. Days ago OSU had a No. 5 preseason AP ranking, hoping for a few special plays to make them one of the four teams in the playoff for a national championship. Two losses would not be good enough. Most prognosticators outside of Ohio will predict OSU will have at least the two losses noted above. Only ESPN analyst Trevor Matich is bold enough to publicly state they still have a chance.

But heres the silver lining. This season gift is a relatively weak schedule. Within the Weak-10 Conference, some of the would-be tough teams within are not on the schedule Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Iowa. And the University of Michigan, yet to prove big-time-ness on the field in recent years, is a home game. So this is a season where the new lineman, new quarterback, and a talented bevy of budding running backs and receivers can find themselves.

Urban Meyer has a long history of finding a way to average at least 30 points a game over the course of his career. Hes done so with lesser talent that he has right now.

This means more excitement for the Buckeye fans because of the same uncertainty and drama that makes for good movies. Football and movies are both entertainment with revenue generated from eye-balls, popcorn, and advertising. More drama. More money. OSU will still have plenty of both this season.

Saliently, this means that the 2014 version of OSU will take its lumps this year, but take off its training wheels next season. That will be just in time for the likely return of Braxton Miller. Both will be poised for very special season. Miller already had durability issues, with a prior serious knee rehab and a prior shoulder injury in his medical history. If he started this season with that rehabbing offensive line as his main protectors, injuries may have claimed him anyway. Now he will come back when those protectors are better able to protect and serve.

Buckeye fans should therefore be reminded that patience is a virtue, and hope springs eternal. Hope should not have to wait that long for a reward in Columbus. Hype can even start now for the 2015 season.
