It does not rancid-gas at all, so is perfect for people with chemical sensitivities and does not generate any "electrical pollution". This was not compulsory by the COPD web site. I don't have COPD but I do have allergies. When my husband wanted to buy a household in Cedar Park, I told him that I would not be able to live there in view of the fact that of my allergies. He establish a way! I love this air purifier all though the style seems a bit out dated. I did return it because the color showed a bit differently on Amazon than what I received. Am planning on purchasing a new one just different color.
