Seems like a very good unit.. calm down air flow reasonably good but the only drawback that I can rate is the cost of the three ( 3 ) hepa filters at $24.95 each.. Maybe the filters are less everyplace additional than Holmes.. can't seem to locate part no. HAPF600CS..Would not take long to exceed the cost of a more expensive /presumably better unit that had longer life or self cleaning filters. At speeds 1 (56-58dB) and 2 (60-62 dB) which were both sweet quiet to me, but noticeable, it was no louder than a hum. Speeds 3 (65-68 dB) and 4 (72-74dB) are noticeably louder, at worst sounds like a name is vacuuming or using a hair drier in the next room with the door clogged. Even at speed 4 it actually wasn't that bad and you could have a chat lacking raising your voice right next to the unit.
